Brenda Dickinson is the lobbyist for the Home Education Foundation and watchdog for our Florida home education rights. As homeschoolers, we enjoy privileges that were fought for and written into law because of Brenda’s efforts. Some of these privileges include:

  • Dual enrollment at postsecondary institutions
  • Inclusion of home educated students into extracurricular activities at public schools
  • Bright Futures Scholarships for home educated students
  • Participation in Florida Virtual School

Brenda remains vigilant to protect these privileges and rights for the present and future generations of home educated students. In addition, she constantly works to protect the freedom of parents to direct their own children's education. Please join us to hear how you can help protect your rights and those of your fellow home educators as well as to learn about bridging the gaps between the educational preparation needed to fulfill your child’s calling to align with job opportunities in the marketplace.

The focus of this special night will be:
Career pathways leading to industry certifications and degrees in
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Brenda will give an overview of the new direction of education in Florida. Students are being exposed to digital tools and opportunities for industry certifications as early as elementary school. She will help parents understand how to access those opportunities for their home educated students in Polk County. Career choices will include non - college bound options which allow the opportunity to move up the educational ladder, as well as those seeking college degrees. Don't miss this exciting meeting

October 21 - Brooksville

Career and technical education is now preparing students, beginning in elementary school, for pathways leading to industry certifications and degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
