2026 DESIGN CHALLENGE!
In 2025, we launched our first ever Donation Match Challenge, and families from all over Florida participated as a home education issued a challenge to donate $6000 from their giving fund if we could raise that from other Home Education families across the state. AND YOU CAME THROUGH! We created a Challenge Coin that was sent out to all of those families that participated to commemorate that moment. ​

Contest Details
We're following the theme of this year as the 250th birthday of our great nation and freedoms we all hold near and dear. Combine that with your love of Florida, and what Home Education means to YOU!

Submission must be a circle - it's a coin.

Submissions must be digital art, not a picture of physical art in order to be considered for the contest, however we will accept and celebrate the participation of ALL of the submissions, even if they cannot be chosen due to not being able to be reproduced as a coin.

Submissions must be made through our Discord in the contest channel.

Your artwork, once submitted becomes ours so that we can reproduce it.

There will be a popular vote on Discord, a Board vote, and the Sponsor will vote to determine the winner.

Winner will be announced in July!
The judging will be subjective, and we will be factoring in what aligns with the theme, what is able to be reproduced as a coin, whether the design incorporates copyrighted or trademarked images or icons, and what aligns with both HEF and HEF Connect Inc's missions and visions.

Parent's posting in discord on behalf of their student should include name and age in the post.
If you do not want to use discord, you CAN send your designs in to info@flhef.org, however they will not be able to be voted on by the community, so please keep that in mind. The discord server allows for the community to see it posted, comment and vote. This does not necessarily mean that you cannot win, but it does mean that as the board is weighing their votes, they will not have additional input from the community.

We cannot always agree on everything. In fact, that is one of the most beautiful things about our founding fathers, and home education itself. Go your own way. Do it yourself. Own the results. As parent educators, we naturally are the cultural subset of society most comfortable with going our own way. We think critically, and often times that means we judge harshly when it comes to what we see others do in our community.

Yes, we're talking about the scholarship. Whether you believe it's good or not, it is here. Whether you believe parents should take it or not, it is here.
​
The greatest threat to our freedoms does not come from the Capitol, but from the fracturing of our community. Scholarship, no scholarship, private school, hybrid, co-op, no co-op, classical, Montessori, unschool, college, no college, charter school, public school. We all have one unifying concern.
​
This is NOT an endorsement of the "homeschooling scholarships" or "school choice." It is an acceptance that this is the landscape we find ourselves in and must navigate. This is a call to look beyond those things and see mothers and fathers daring to grab at freedoms and authority to which they were previously numb. To ally with those who have awakened from abdicating their parenthood to the nearest public asset. This is a reminder that we all struggle and that life is messy, and that if we focus on that which makes us different we lose the strength of unifying on that which makes us the same.

We are the parents. Educating and raising the children is our duty.
​
The state does not own our children. We are the parents, and our authority is the ultimate authority when it comes to raising, educating, and establishing their paths in life. We need to stay focused on what truly matters, celebrate the opportunities and successes of others without contention or jealousy, and come alongside each other to be a watchful community, never giving an inch when it comes to the power of our decision-making. ​
