Exciting times!
Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas supported by the State Board of Education sent out a letter to homeschool parents and private school parents. In this letter he quotes Scripture, shares values, and continues to emphasize the parent as the primary educator in a child's life.
He says:
The importance of family-led education and thoughtful choice has long been recognized. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.” This wisdom reflects the freedom and responsibility parents have to guide their children’s education in a way that aligns with their values, beliefs, and aspirations for the future. As the second half of the school year begins, I encourage you to continue building on the strong foundation you have established. Your leadership, planning, and daily engagement support not only academic growth but also independence, character, and lifelong learning.
We often make requests, give feedback, or raise issues when it's warranted. I think this is a great time to share this and a message of appreciation for strong leadership and honoring the primary and critical role of parents.
From the Home Education Foundation to all of the Home Education families (parents and students), thank you all for your continued diligence and growth. May your time be blessed with rest, memories and warmth.
